I am always surprised when I approach what I feel is a busy intersection and I don’t see a left turn arrow on the traffic signal.
That happened quite recently and, honestly, I can’t remember if I was in Owensboro or elsewhere, but I sat there for about 10 minutes before I could turn. (I’m reading that and thinking how short that looks, but it’s really an eternity at an intersection.) There was no green left arrow, and the oncoming traffic line was considerable. One car turns; the light turns red. The next car turns; the light turns red. 🙄 And so on…
